With the use of micropiles, a construction technique is implemented with which it is possible to create subfoundations, defense structures, reinforcement bulkheads, consolidation works, using equipment with very small dimensions.

The construction of micropiles involving the use of steel pipes is a very widespread technique. In this case, the steel pipe constitutes both the main resistant element and, at the same time, acts as a means for carrying out the injections under pressure.
(These types of micropiles are called TUBFIX)

Production Norms and technologies
Welded steel pipes

(hollow profiles with circular section, longitudinally welded and cold formed CFCHS)

  • – Reference standard: EN 10219, equivalent or higher
  • – Test certificates: 2.2 or 3.1 according to EN 10204

Seamless steel pipes

(hot-finished hollow profiles of non-alloy and fine-grain steels with circular section for structural purposes)

  • – Reference standard: EN 10210, equivalent or higher
  • – Test certificates: 2.2 or 3.1 according to EN 10204

Steel grade

(hot-finished hollow profiles of non-alloy and fine-grain steels with circular section for structural purposes)

  • – S235, S275, S355 (EN 10025 classification)
  • – J55, K55, N80 (API classification 5CT)

Processing

The steel tubes for micropiles can be delivered equipped with the processes necessary for coupling the bars on site and with the accessories to allow injections during installation.

In particular, the joints between the bars can be made by:

  • – M/F threads
  • – M/M thread + joint sleeve with F thread
  • – F/F thread + internal connection nipple with M thread
  • – Simple external sleeve pre-welded at one end for subsequent welding on site
Standard threads are square and have 4 threads per inch. It is however possible to make specific threads based on drawings.

Micropile tubes can be equipped with steel (welded) or plastic (press-fitted) bottom caps. The check injection valves can be of the embedded or “manchette” type. In particular, the embedded valves can be:
  • of ø12 mm and with opening at approximately 2 bar
  • of ø12 mm and with opening at approximately 20 bar
  • of ø16 mm and with opening at approximately 20 bar

It is possible to request drilling heads made with high-resistance steel prisms and equipped with M or F threads, or even disposable tips made to your design.
